In class on wednesday the conversation digressed (this is not unusual) into a discussion of childhood fears of things that went bump in the night. Other people's mothers made soothing noises and made the ghosts (or monsters, or in one case dinosaurs in the closet) go away. My mother asked me why I was just assuming from the start that all ghosts/monsters/dinosaurs were evil. It didn't help much at the time.
People thought this was hilarious and someone said something about the hazards of being raised by an ethical philosopher. And it is rather funny, but I'm proud of her ethics and glad I was raised by her.

That IS out of the box thinking! It is nice to have such a woman as an influence in your life rt? :)
Rads
Oh well, I actually said something similar a few weeks back. I am now afraid my statements will haunt me in the form of blog posts (or whatever else there is in place of blogs) decades from now!
My sister once while sleeping had a feeling that a snake was crawling over her and she started screeching in middle of her sleep. When my parents heard this, my mom said "thats it?" and went back to sleep and it was my dad who consoled my sister. Till this day, my mom does not regret it because there were no snakes in the place where we lived!
Its good to have such women influence our lives :) Nice post, keep blogging
Heehee.. that it really funny. :) I wonder what my mum would have said.. I don't remember ever being afraid of monsters and running to her for comfort. :)
